Hi, I’m Jan from Holistic Hideaway Wellbeing Centre in Lyndhurst, The New Forest.
I launched Holistic Hideaway in 2005 and menopause wasn’t something that was mentioned much apart from the occasional client who made a joke about their ‘power surges’.
How has Jan been affected by the menopause?
So many of my clients are now in perimenopause and I am finding that they are much more comfortable talking about their symptoms, which is brilliant. Being able to verbalise what you are going through really helps, especially when the person you are talking to is having the same experience. I have been perimenopausal for nearly 4 years and had a wide variety of symptoms over the years.
I’ve known Lynda for several years and we have always discussed women’s health so I was delighted when she launched ‘The Menopause Boutique’.
Jan's Advice to women going through the menopause...
The treatments I offer have been carefully chosen over the years and are all beneficial as we get older.
‘Me Time’ relaxation and pampering therapies include Therapeutic Massages to lower the stress hormones in the body, Mindfulness Sessions to help get on top of any anxious thoughts and cut down on the ‘Mind Chatter’ also Reiki to bring a sense of wellbeing and balance.
‘Problem Solving’ Deep Tissue Massage to ease stiff muscles and joints, skin care including the amazing ‘Maxi Face Lift’ facial massage to reduce wrinkles and lift sagging skin. Laughter Yoga because laughing is one of the best medicines in the world and works wonders in reducing stress levels by releasing happy hormones.
During the last 16 years I have become rather obsessed with the human body and mind, wanting to help people enhance their well-being both physically and mentally.
I run courses for anxiety with a fabulous Change Consultant and I have recently started a support group called ‘Meeting the Menopause’ with Lynda so women can find the help they need when they reach perimenopause.
